3-Phase Transmission line Emulator Set up at “Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur”


The setup features a Three-Phase Pi Model of a Transmission Line, designed to simulate a 200 km artificial short transmission line. This system operates with a voltage range of 0 to 415V and supports a load current of up to 20 Amps at a frequency of 50 Hz.

    • Variable Voltage Source: A three-phase variable voltage source is available, with a range of 0 to 415V and a current rating of 15 Amps. The source features zero interlocking for ease of operation and includes short circuit and overload protection.

    • Power Analyzer: Equipped with a digital multi-monitoring system and a panel-mount flash-type power analyzer for comprehensive real-time monitoring of electrical parameters.

    • Isolation Transformer: The system includes an isolation transformer with an input of 415V and an output of 415V/15 Amps, providing electrical isolation and protection.
    • SFU Unit: Features an HRC (High Rupture Capacity) fuse unit rated at 415V/20 Amps, mounted on a secure base for reliable circuit protection.

    • Three-Phase Load: A 3 HP three-phase load with overload and single-phasing protection is integrated, ensuring safe and reliable operation under varying conditions.
  • Data Acquisition and Analysis:
